Imagine, explore, discover a world anew on Thursday, November 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Middle School. This event is free and open to the public.
Plan on eating dinner in our International Cafe where vendors of various ethnic restaurants will offer $3, $5, or $7 plates. Student exhibits will be everywhere, while a professional musician will host a drum circle in Africa. Community members will provide interactive exhibits and games from Asia to South America to Europe. For the first time in 15 years, the French cafe will be closed in response to the tragic events in France and Belgium. The room will become a Reflection room where visitors are invited to pay their respects to the victims, families and friends in Europe as well as reflect on how they will help create a world anew. A seven-foot canvas, decorated by the eighth-grade French students, will become a message board of condolences for visitors during Global Connections. This canvas will be sent to a school in Paris.
The book fair is in the media center and is Smith’s major fund-raiser. It will be open for business during Global Connections - please stop by the media center. You can also order books online until November 21. The link is available on the school’s homepage.
