The Smith Middle School Band hosted their Winter Concert Tuesday night to an eager crowd of parents and friends.
The concert included the school's sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders participating in band and orchestra. The performance was given to a packed crowd in the schools’ auditorium. This was the first concert for sixth-graders in the program.
The concert included more traditional concert music as well as a smattering of unique pieces which added flavor to the event. The seventh-grade band opened up their performance with a piece entitled “Ancient Voices” composed by Michael Sweeney. The piece was reminiscent of ancient times and a deeper connection to the Earth. The concert also played host to individual performances in addition to the many group performances. There was a featured violin solo as well as duets, trios, and quartets by the eighth-grade orchestra.
It was truly a night to remember!
